BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The man accused of shooting and killing a 17-year-old was caught in Ascension Parish Wednesday night, according The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office.
Authorities said two teens are also charged with murder in the shooting death of Sajaray Franklin Jr. during a suspected planned drug deal and armed robbery Tuesday night.
EBRSO reported the shooting happened at the fairgrounds on Airline Highway around 10 p.m. Franklin, of Baton Rouge, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deputies said Bodrick Tuggle, 17, of Baton Rouge, and Cristopher Gray, 19, of Prairieville, were arrested. Both are charged with second-degree murder. Tuggle is also charged with armed robbery, while Gray faces an additional charge of conspiracy to commit armed robbery.
Investigators said Tuggle told detectives he and Franklin went to meet another man, later identified as Ronald Lockett Jr., 18, of Baker, for a marijuana deal where they planned to rob him of $1,500. Tuggle reportedly said he stayed in the car while Franklin met with Lockett and later heard gunshots.
Detectives said Tuggle also told them Gray also helped plan the robbery and the three of them would split the money.
Detectives apprehended Lockett, who is the alleged shooter, in Donaldsonville. He was booked in the Ascension Parish prison as a fugitive from EBRSO and will be transported to the East Baton Rouge Prison. He will be booked for second-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon.
The investigation is ongoing.
