Weather warnings issued for severe storm passing through south Louisiana

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The National Weather Service in New Orleans had issued a Severe Thunderstorm warning for East Baton Rouge Parish. It was in effect until 5:15 p.m.

The storm passing through the area is capable of producing quarter size hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. Lighting is also a major concern

A Flash Flood Warning is effect for East Baton Rouge until 7:45 p.m.

Ceba Lane on LSU's campus has been blocked off due to high water, according to LSU Police. Drivers are urged not to try to pass through areas known for high water.

Entergy reported scattered outages with over 11,000 people affected in East Baton Rouge at one point, mostly along Highland and Burbank.

DEMCO also reported outages, mostly in Livingston Parish with about 430 people affected at one point.
