OUR TURN: Garret Graves I-10 Comments

Air: Tuesday, June 23, 2015

Let's hear it for U.S. Representative Garret Graves. Congressman Graves on Monday said what we've all been thinking – the spot on Interstate 10 where eastbound traffic effectively narrows to one lane is "ridiculous." His exact quote was, "It's ridiculous. It needs to be fixed immediately."

The place the congressman is referring to is where one of two eastbound lanes is required to exit the interstate at Washington Street. I-10 stretches across the country almost 2,500 miles from Santa Monica, California to Jacksonville, Florida and reportedly the only place where it narrows to one lane is here in Baton Rouge. The problem is of course exacerbated by the fact that there aren't other good alternative routes.

We hope Congressman Graves can be the tipping point to get this common sense improvement accomplished. That's "Our Turn." Now, it's your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, visit us on Facebook or send an email to yourturn@wafb.com.
