DENHAM SPRINGS, LA (WAFB) - The Denham Springs City Council approved a nearly $22 million budget on Monday night.
The budget includes about $400,000 for some construction and road work in the city.
However the budget doesn't include a pay raise for employees, but Mayor Gerald Landry says raises should come next year. He also says the city is playing it safe when it comes to predicting revenue.
"We're projecting a 1 and a half increase. We were running about a 3," said Landry. "Not that we are anticipating a drop, but I tend to be on a conservative side. I'd much rather project low and keep the spending in line."
The city has also set aside funding to resurrect its mosquito abatement program. The mayor says that should be online in a few weeks.
