Pedestrian killed in hit and run accident in St. Mary Parish

ST. MARY PARISH, LA (WAFB) -

Louisiana State Police are investigating a hit and run accident that killed a pedestrian late Sunday night in St. Mary Parish.

According to State Troopers, the accident happened just before 11:30 p.m. on U.S. 90 westbound near Ricohoc.

When emergency crews arrived, they found 60-year-old Larry Finster lying in the roadway. Troopers believe that Finster was lying in the outside travel lane when he was run over. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Evidence collected at the scene have led State Troopers to believe that the vehicle that fled the scene is a late model GMC truck or SUV.

State Police believe that Finster may have been under the influence of alcohol. A routine toxicology test was taken and sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.

The crash is still under investigation.

State Troopers ask that if you are the driver of the vehicle or you have any information about this hit and run fatality to contact Louisiana State Police at 337-262-5880.
