Woman killed in early morning shooting

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Department is investigating a shooting that claimed the life of a woman early Sunday morning.

EBRSO says the shooting happened at approximately 2:16 a.m. in the 6000 block of East Upland. When deputies arrived they found a large party where there had been multiple shots fired.

Detectives later received a call saying that a victim was being transported to the hospital. The victim, 21-year-old Donlisha Patterson, was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later.

The shooting remains under investigation.
