BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

The Baton Rouge constable has more back up in case of an emergency.

The City Constable's Office held its first Reserve Academy Graduation for the first time on Wednesday night.

Former state representative Don Cazayoux addressed the graduation class of 16 people.

"We put on this academy, and it's especially tailored and designed to fit the needs and duties of the constables and city marshals. We got an overwhelming turnout at this first academy," Constable Reggie Brown.

The City Constable's Office says the reserves and other volunteers will help to clear the thousands of active warrants in the parish.
