Zachary Police arrested a man Sunday night for punching and choking his girlfriend.
According to police they received a call just before 11 p.m. Sunday from the victim's daughter saying that her mother's boyfriend was punching and choking her.
Police were then dispatched to the home in the 4600 block of Avenue F. When police arrived, they were met at the door by the victim's boyfriend, 46-year-old Kelvin Gray.
According to the probable cause report, Gray refused to allow police into the home to check on the victim. Gray then challenged the officers which led to a scuffle between them.
Gray was eventually placed in handcuffs and put into the back of a police car.
When police interviewed the victim, she admitted that Gray was punching and choking her before police were called.
According to police when the victim passed by the police car to talk to officers, Gray threatened the victim by telling her that he was going to kill her.
Gray was taken to the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison where he has been charged with domestic abuse battery, resisting by force or violence, resisting and officer, intimidating a witness and attempted simple escape.
Bond for Gray has not yet been set.
