BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Investigators made an arrest late Thursday night in a deadly shooting that happened in broad daylight earlier in the day.
The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office reported Reginald Scott, 36, is charged with second-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon in the shooting death of D'Andre Smith, 35.
He was arrested around 11:45 p.m. and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison early Friday morning. No bond was set.
The shooting happened on Summer Drive, which is off Airline Highway, around 1 p.m.
Casey Rayborn Hicks said Smith reportedly went to Scott's house and the two got into a fight in the front yard. She added reports further indicate at some point Scott pulled out a gun, shot Smith several times and then drove off.
Court officials reported Scott was out on bond at the time after a simple battery arrest. They added he has other pending legal cases.
