BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
Four LSU Tigers have been named to Baseball America's All-American teams.
LSU shortstop Alex Bregman and pitcher Alex Lange were named to the first team. Catcher Kade Scivicque was named to the second team while center fielder Andrew Stevenson was named to the third team.
Bregman is hitting .312 this season with 9 home runs, 49 RBI and 37 stolen bases. The junior is also a 2015 Golden Spikes Award finalist and has earned first team All-America status for the second time in three years. Bregman was selected by the Houston Astros with the second overall pick of the MLB Draft.
Lange posted an 11-0 record with a 1.89 ERA and 121 strike outs as a freshman. The Tigers ace was also named National Freshman Pitcher of the Year and SEC Freshman of the Year. He received first team all-SEC recognition.
Scivicque is hitting .347 this season with 20 doubles, six homers and 45 RBI. He has thrown out 18 runners attempting to steal. The senior catcher is one of three finalists for the Johnny Bench Award. He is a first team All-SEC and second team All-America selection. Scivicque was drafted in the fourth round by the Detroit Tigers.
Stevenson leads the Tigers hitting attack with a .356 batting average. He also has 11 doubles, five triples and 26 stolen bases. The Washington Nationals selected Stevenson with the 58th overall in the second round of the draft.
LSU (53-10) will play TCU (49-13) on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the College World Series.
If LSU wins, the Tigers will play Tuesday at 7 p.m. If the Horned Frogs beat LSU, the Tigers will take the field Tuesday at 2 p.m.
