Wanted man allowed to finish meal before being arrested

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Authorities asked for the public's help to find a man who did not appear in court to face drug and weapon charges. The public responded and the man was located shortly after the wanted notice was issued.

The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office reported Marcus Green, 34, of Baton Rouge, failed to appear in court on charges of possession of illegal firearm by convicted felon and possession of cocaine.

Officials said Green is one of the top 100 in the Repeat Offender Prosecution and Enhancement (ROPES) program, which means he has six arrests for felony crimes or at least two felony convictions.

Crime Stoppers received a tip that Green was dining at a restaurant on S. Sherwood Forest on Thursday. Baton Rouge Police were notified and responded to the area.

"For the safety of those inside the restaurant, [the officers] waited for Green to finish his meal, taking him into custody once outside," said Sgt. Donald Stone in a news release.
