BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The legal team for "Angola Three" member Albert Woodfox is arguing for his immediate release from the West Feliciana Parish Jail.
Lawyers filed papers Wednesday opposing the state Attorney General's effort to keep the aging prisoner locked up.
Woodfox has already spent four decades in solitary at Angola after being accused of killing a prison guard in 1972.
The conviction has already been overturned twice and on Monday a judged ordered his release.
However the AG's office wants him retried.
Both sides are waiting on the Appeals Court to decide.
