Flooding slows down drivers in Baton Rouge

City flooding slows drivers down

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - High waters have left some places in Baton Rouge unsafe and hard to drive.

Several places flooded because of the amount of rain the city received during Tuesday's storm. On Jamestown Avenue, a car broke down as it tried to make its way through what look like a pond.

The driver of the vehicle, Jake Guidry, said before he knew it he was climbing through his window.

"The water started as high as the middle of my tire. Next thing I know I had water inside of my car to my driver seat. So it rose very quickly," said Guidry.

Other places that drivers can avoid because they flood fast are:

  • Nicholson Dr. at Burbank
  • Chippewa Underpass
  • Perkins Rd. around City Park
  • Mayflower Rd. and South Blvd.
  • Essen Lane
