BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Alex Lange has been named the 2015 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association National Freshman Pitcher of the Year.
LSU's ace is 11-0 this season with a 1.89 ERA and 121 strikeouts.
Lange has also been named the National Freshman Pitcher of the Year by Collegiate Baseball magazine, SEC Freshman of the Year and a first team All-American.
LSU relief pitcher Jesse Stallings joined Lange on the NCBWA First-Team Freshman All-America squad.
Stallings is 1-2 this season with a 2.23 ERA, 26 strikeouts and 12 saves in 32.1 innings of relief work.
LSU (53-10) will play TCU (49-13) on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the College World Series after the Horned Frogs beat Texas A&M 5-4 in a 16 inning game that didn't end until early Tuesday morning.
It will be the first game of the day and will be followed at 7 p.m. by Cal State Fullerton (39-23) against Vanderbilt (47-19).
The losers of Sunday's games will play each other at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16. Sunday's winners will meet that same day at 7 p.m.
