GONZALES, LA (WAFB) - The Gonzales Police Department have made an arrest in a fatal car accident back in February.
Police have arrested 28-year-old Lucero Dominquez for her role in the fatal car accident that killed Joey McClendon and injured his wife and two children.
On February 15, officers say they were dispatched to the scene of a two-vehicle crash at North Airline Highway and Weber City Road.
Dominquez's 2001 GMC Yukon ran a red light and struck the side of the 2013 Nissan Altima driven by McClendon. All four people inside of the Altima were taken to the hospital with injuries. McClendon succumbed to his injuries almost two weeks after the accident.
Upon completion of the investigation, detectives determined that Dominquez was at fault due to running the red light on Airline Hwy and speeding.
Dominquez was arrested at her residence in Prairieville by Ascension Parish Sheriff's Deputies and transported to the Gonzales Police Department. She has been booked in the Ascension Parish Jail and charged with negligent homicide.
Dominquez's bond has been set at $1268.50 for misdemeanor charges. No bond has been set for the charge of negligent homicide.
