BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A Baton Rouge senator said her final goodbyes to her co-workers at the State Capitol on Friday.
State senator Sharon Weston Broome will be unable to run for re-election of her post in the fall. She is term-limited and will serve her last few days in her current office until the legislative session ends on Thursday.
Despite retiring from her senatorial duties, Weston Broome told her fellow representatives on Friday that she plans to "continue the path of public service to another location, right down the street," hinting towards her political future.
Weston Broome has served as a state senator since 2004.
