Motorcyclist dies after colliding with big rig truck

LIVINGSTON PARISH, LA (WAFB) - A Clinton motorcyclist has died from injuries sustained in a two vehicle crash.

Walter Booker, 42, died when he was traveling on his motorcycle southbound on LA 43 north of LA 442 in Livingston Parish. State police say that 54-year-old Steven Vaughn was also driving southbound on LA 43 in a Freightliner big rig truck.

Police say that Vaughn was about to make a left turn onto Horseshoe Road, but since Booker was coming out of a right curve, he did not come to a stop. Booker's motorcycle then skidded into the northbound lane, and as a result, struck the Freightliner on the driver's side.

State Police say that, despite the fact that Booker was wearing a safety helmet, he sustained fatal injuries in the crash. Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash. A toxicology sample was taken from Booker, and Vaughn was given a breathalyzer test, which showed that he was not impaired
