Troopers search for pair accused of insurance fraud

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Authorities are asking for the public's help in finding a woman and man accused of staging a car accident in order to defraud an insurance company.

Louisiana State Police Insurance Fraud/Auto detectives are looking for Chelsey Valentine, 25, and Alfred Askins, 29, both of Baton Rouge, are wanted on charges of insurance fraud and maintaining false public records.

Investigators said the pair staged a car accident in Baton Rouge in November 2013 involving a U-Haul and another vehicle.

They reported Valentine was driving the U-Haul and rear-ended a vehicle with Askins inside it.

They added Askins filed an injury claim with the insurance provider for the U-Haul after the police report was filed.

Valentine is 5'6" and weighs 134 pounds. Askins is 5'8" and weighs 155 pounds.
