LSU's Lange named National Freshman Pitcher of the Year

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - LSU's Alex Lange has been named the 2015 National Freshman Pitcher of the Year by Collegiate Baseball magazine.

LSU's ace is 11-0 this season with a 1.76 ERA in 97 innings. He has recorded 110 strikeouts and limited opponents to a .206 cumulative batting average.

In May, Lange was also named the SEC Freshman of the Year and a first team All-American.

Louisiana-Lafayette's Gunner Leger was named to the 2015 Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-America squad as a starting pitcher. Leger was 6-4 with a 2.87 ERA, 83 strikeouts and 19 walks over 106 2/3 innings.

LSU's Jesse Stallings and Southeastern's Mac Sceroler were both named to the All-America relief pitcher team. 

Stallings had 12 saves, 2.23 ERA, 26 strikeouts, 11 walks in 32 1/3 innings.

Sceroler was 3-2 with 6 saves, 2.45 ERA, 26 strikeouts, 5 walks in 29 1/3 innings for the Lions.

LSU (51-10) plays host to UL-Lafayette (42-21) this weekend in the Baton Rouge Regional.
