Man in critical condition after being hit by train

SCHRIEVER, LA (WAFB) -

A Gray, La. man was hit by a train Tuesday morning in Schriever, La. after he fell off of his bike onto the train tracks.

Deputies with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office say it happened around 8:30 a.m.

Reginald Chatman, 55, was riding a bicycle and fell on the train track. As the train was approaching, Chatman tried to roll away from the tracks, but was unsuccessful. The cargo train hit Chatman and the bicycle.

Chatman was taken to the hospital where he is listed in critical care. Deputies say Chatman's left foot and his right big toe was amputated.
