BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The second annual Baton Rouge Family Fit Day, originally postponed in April, took place Saturday.
The event was originally scheduled for April 18, but when it got postponed due to rain, the mayor's office rescheduled the event to Saturday, May 30.
The event, at the BREC City Brooks Community Park, closed the streets that loop around City Park, Brooks Park, and City Park Lake, in order to get the maximum amount of usable space for the event.
Organizations like Healthy BR and BREC put on the event that included football, trampolines, Zumba classes, and a hula hoop contest. Organizers say that they hope the event encourages people to change their lifestyles.
"We really just want to give people the opportunity to come out, experience things they may not have tried before, and understand they can pick that up as part of their daily routine," says mayor's office representative Andy Allen.
Baton Rouge was one of 90 cities across the country that hosted similar events.
