Baton Rouge native, who was former Vanderbilt basketball player, dies in apparent drowning

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV/WAFB) -

According to multiple media reports, a Baton Rouge native who played three years of college basketball at Vanderbilt drowned Thursday night.

According to WXIN, Dai-Jon Parker, 22, was on an inner tube being pulled by a boat at a reservoir in Indiana, but was knocked off when it hit a big wave and he never resurfaced.

The station added Parker's body was found hours later. He was reportedly not wearing a life jacket.

WSMV reported Parker transferred to the University of Indianapolis after playing three seasons at Vanderbilt.

He was born in Louisiana, but played high school in Georgia, where he led his team to a state championship in 2010.
