ZACHARY, LA (WAFB) -

The evacuation for a Zachary subdivision has been lifted. The residents were evacuated Thursday afternoon after a large gas line ruptured underground.

The High Plains Crossing subdivision off of Hwy 64 and Mount Pleasant Road in Zachary was evacuated to the nearby Grace Fellowship Church, according to the homeowner's association.

The East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office, Zachary Fire and Hazmat are on the scene.

The line has been bled out and crews are expected to work on fixing the line for most of Thursday night. No word yet on what caused the line to break.

The residents of Bur Oak Dr. are asked to stay inside for the night as crews work.
