BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

State Treasurer John Kennedy says the public should have plenty of answers on what's been called improper spending of their money and he says they should have those answers sooner rather than later.

Kennedy is working to set up a public meeting where he would like to address the spending habits of the Director of the Municipal Employees Retirement Board. Some of that big spending took center stage in a recent 9News investigation.

"We don't need to be spending it on meals at Ruth's Chris Steak House or the Palace Café in New Orleans or going to Sandestin Florida or going to the Grand Hotel unless it's really necessary and there's a lawful business purpose," said Kennedy. "Now, I'm not saying there is or isn't. That's the purpose of getting the facts, but by God we are going to get the facts and let the chips fall where they may."

No word yet on what day the public meeting will be held.
