BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Mayor's office of Employ BR will be hosting the Making a Positive Step Work Experience beginning Monday June 8.
The MAPS Work Experience Program offers low-income youth in East Baton Rouge Parish the opportunity to gain work experience. They will also get to engage with employers from government agencies, private businesses, social service agencies, educational entities, and faith and community based organizations.
The program will employ the youth and give them the opportunity to participate in workshops to increase awareness in financial literacy and job and life kills to help them to be more marketable on the future.
The program for youth ages 16-21 will be an eight week program starting on June 8 and ending July 31.
There are a limited amount of slots available. Acceptance into the program is on a first-come, first-served bases. Only one youth per household will be allowed to participate
Applications will only be available for pick up at the Mayor's Office of EmployBR Youth Center at 1520 Thomas H. Delpit Drive between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.May 26 through May 28.
Completed applications will be accepted between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. May 26 through May 29.
