ASCENSION PARISH, LA (WAFB) - A 21-year-old man was killed after a single vehicle crash in Ascension Parish Friday night.
Just after 9:30 p.m., Louisiana State Troopers began investigating a single vehicle accident on US Highway 61 in Ascension Parish.
According to State Police, a 2005 Suzuki Forenza driven by 24-year-old Jason Williams left the roadway for unknown reasons and struck a culvert. The vehicle then rolled several times before coming to a rest on the roof.
Williams' passenger, 21-year-old Dylan Martin, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident was partially ejected from the vehicle and died from his injuries.
Williams was taken to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center where he was treated for minor injuries.
A routine toxicology test was taken and submitted to the Louisiana State Crime Lab for analysis.
Williams has been charged with careless operation.
The crash remains under investigation and further charges may be pending.
