Veterans receive 2-hour head start at Baton Rouge Job Fair

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Veterans got a head start at EmployBR's Spring Job Fair on Thursday.

Military vets were able to enter the job fair at the Baton Rouge River Center two hours earlier than other job seekers. The doors opened to the veterans at 9 a.m. and to the general public at 11 a.m.

More than 100 employers are on hand for potential employees at the fair.

Organizers said it is a great opportunity to match job skills with open positions, especially for veterans.

"We encourage them to come in and speak with the employers that are here, share their skills that they have, not only from the time that they spent in the military, but any skills that they've acquired throughout their employment, either here or in the military," said Penny Leduff-Collins, EmployBR program administrator.

Parking for the event is available at the River Center Garage for $5.

The job fair ends at 2 p.m.
