This week's "Your Turn" segment goes to Tammy Beddingfield. Beddingfield and others are riled up after watching our "Investigators" report on Louisiana Registrars of Voters. By state law, every parish has a Registrar of Voters. Some of them make as much as $180,000 a year. They're virtually appointed for life and they give themselves seven percent pay raises every year.
In Beddingfield's words: I just watched this story, and it has me fired up. I'm quite sure the majority of the voters would not approve of these positions making the six figure incomes they have approved for themselves, and definitely not for life. The law needs to be changed immediately and this cannot continue. If it isn't the federal government wasting our tax dollars, it's the state and local parishes. It all has to stop.
