Sheriff: DNA test confirms teacher is father of student's baby

PLAQUEMINE, LA (WAFB) - The Iberville Parish sheriff said the results of a DNA test confirm a teacher is the father of the child of one of the girls he is accused of having sex with.

Sheriff Brett Stassi said the results from the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab showed Keavin Keith, 30, of Plaquemine, fathered the child of one of the victims associated with the investigation.

In a warrant connected to the case, a detective wrote that an alleged victim "advised that she had a sexual relationship with 30-year-old Keavin Keith that produced a son." The victim is under the age of 18.

The Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office reported Keith is accused of having sex with three of his former students and was arrested Monday night.

Sheriff Brett Stassi said Keith, who was a teacher of the year, was booked on two counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile, five counts of felony carnal knowledge and 30 counts of prohibited sexual conduct between an educator and a student.

Keith was released after posting a $100,000 bail.
