SPRINGFIELD, LA (WAFB) -

In Livingston Parish, Steve Meyers has been named Interim Police Chief of Springfield after a unanimous vote by the town council.

He'll replace James Jones who resigned as part of a deal with the Attorney General's office to avoid possible jail time for his alleged role in helping cover up a DWI.

Mayor Charles Martin is also accused, but has yet to decide whether he will accept the same deal.
