BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office SCAT, K-9 and Uniform Patrol deputies arrested a man Wednesday afternoon that ran from a traffic stop leaving behind an AK-47 and drugs in his vehicle.
Deputies were patrolling the area of Highland and Chatsworth when they observed a vehicle with non-working brake lights. Deputies tried to stop the vehicle, when the driver and only occupant jumped out and ran. Deputies set up a perimeter of the area and K-9 tracked the man hiding under a house in the 100 block of Oklahoma Street.
Deputies found an AK-47, 31 live rounds, and 33.8 grams of marijuana.
Markus Morris, 26, will be charged with brake lights required, reckless operation of a vehicle, resisting an officer, possession of a firearm with controlled dangerous substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
