Study: Baton Rouge mental health facility could save state $55 million

The Baton Rouge Area Foundation says that they could save the state almost $55 million over the next 10 years.

In a study commissioned by the Baton Rouge Area Foundation, a mental health center located in Baton Rouge could help treat people with mental illness and substance abuse issues.

The purpose is to treat people of their ailments, rather than send them to jail. The study says that the center could reduce repeat offenders, and help make more productive members of the community.
