BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Mayor-President Kip Holden and other East Baton Rouge Parish leaders held a news conference Tuesday morning to launch a summer feeding program.
The US Department of Agriculture offers the summer feeding program. It provides free breakfast and lunch to children, regardless of their household income.
Holden said the program is very important for some families.
"For those working moms, this is a chance to get a break knowing you can stop by those sites, get something for your children, lunch for your children and that will cut down on the time that you have to spend going back and forth," Holden explained.
Any child under 18 is eligible for the program.
