HAMMOND, LA (WAFB) - Louisiana State Troopers assigned to Troop L conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 12 near Interstate 55 in Tangipahoa Parish Friday morning. During the course of the stop, Troopers searched the vehicle and found more than $390,000 worth of cocaine.
Troopers stopped the Chevrolet Sonic just after 9 a.m. on I-12 east of I-55 in Tangipahoa Parish for a traffic violation.
During the stop, troopers were suspicious of suspected criminal activity.
Troopers recovered 13 kilos of cocaine worth over $390,000 concealed in an aftermarket compartment within the vehicle. The driver, 42 year old Luis Flores of Pasadena, Texas, and his passenger, 37 year old Irene Guzman also from Pasadena, TX, were both arrested and booked into the Tangipahoa Parish jail for felony possession of cocaine over 400 grams.
