ADDIS, LA (WAFB) - One person is dead and another is hospitalized with serious injuries after a two-vehicle crash Thursday evening in which impairment is suspected.
The Addis Police Department reported the wreck happened on LA 1 near Myhand Street around 7:15 p.m.
Police Chief Ricky Anderson said two men were headed northbound on LA 1 and turned left at a crossover south of Myhand Street, but there was a no left turn sign at the crossover. He added a woman, along with a 3-month-old and 3-year-old, was headed southbound on LA 1 and t-boned the turning vehicle.
The passenger, 54-year-old David Lee, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, 58-year-old John Arnold, suffered life-threatening injuries and was flown to the hospital by helicopter. He is listed in critical condition
The woman, 19-year-old Tatyana Jones and her two children were driven to the hospital by Acadian Ambulance. There has been no word on their conditions.
According to Anderson, there were open alcohol containers in the car the two men were in and were "more than likely driving under the influence."
The investigation is ongoing.
