Deputies ask for help finding a suspected kidnapper

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Authorities are asking for the public's help in finding a man who didn't show up for trial on a kidnapping charge.

The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office reported Emmanuel Collins, 37, is wanted for simple kidnapping.

Deputies said he beat his girlfriend in 2013 and when she ran out of the home, he allegedly dragged her back inside and held her against her will.

They added the victim called police after Collins eventually fell asleep. Officers responded to the call and arrested him.

Officials said a trial date was initially set for December 2014. They added he failed to appear for a status hearing in November and a bench warrant was issued.

However, the bench warrant was recalled the next day when Collins did show up for court and the trial was rescheduled for January 2015.

However, Collins did not show up for that court date, so an arrest warrant was issued.

Collins is 6'1" tall and weighs 154 pounds.
