Sheriff says police chief's son arrested on stolen firearm possession charge

ST. GABRIEL, LA (WAFB) - Authorities said the son of a south Louisiana police chief was arrested as part of an investigation into a shooting that left two people dead.

The Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office reported Kevin Ambeau Jr., 25, the son of St. Gabriel Police Chief Kevin Ambeau, was arrested Wednesday on a charge of illegal possession of a stolen firearm. He bonded out of the Iberville Parish Prison Wednesday afternoon. His bond was set at $20,000.

Sheriff Brett Stassi Sr. said the arrest stems from the investigation into the shooting deaths of Dominique Dunbar, 26, and Rove Lodge, 30, at a home in St. Gabriel late Sunday night.

Stassi added the gun Ambeau is charged of having is not the one used in the shooting. He said it was found during the investigation.

The shooting is still under investigation.
