BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Officers with the Baton Rouge Police Department will be sporting new uniforms starting this week.
Police Chief Carl Dabadie wore one of the new uniforms Wednesday morning to show off what it looks like.
It is the first uniform change for the department in at least 30 years.
"This uniform breathes better," Dabadie said. "It's more comfortable. It fits better. The material works better for the officer. And, it's just a more comfortable uniform for an officer to work in for a 10-hour shift."
The new uniforms stray away from the old polyester fabric, which Dabadie added can be difficult to wear in the Louisiana summer heat.
