BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Louisiana State Police will honor fallen law enforcement officers with a candlelight vigil on Thursday.
Louisiana State Police says that, on average, 150 law enforcement officers are killed in the line of duty. They note that 27 Louisiana State Troopers have died while serving since 1925.
The ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. in front of Louisiana State Police headquarters at 9719 Independence Boulevard in Baton Rouge.
"This special ceremony serves as an opportunity to recognize those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the citizens of our state," said Colonel Mike Edmonson, State Police Superintendent. "It is our duty to not only recognize the sacrifices of the fallen Troopers, but also the difficulties and grief endured by their families."
