BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The district attorney reported a woman accused of using heroin while seven months pregnant pleaded guilty to a lesser charge and was given a deferred sentence.
District Attorney Hillar Moore said Krista Miller, 23, pleaded guilty Monday to attempted possession of heroin. She was then released from jail and is on drug court probation.
Miller was arrested by the Baton Rouge Police Department on January 18. She was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of possession of heroin, possession of Xanax and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the probable cause report, Miller was found unresponsive in a car on Plank Road near Winnebago Street.
Officers reported finding her with a tourniquet wrapped around her arm and a needle on the console.
