BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Officials with the Downtown Development District joined BREC leaders to officially dedicate the Downtown Greenway at Expressway Park on Tuesday.
It is a pedestrian and bicycling corridor that spans nearly three miles along the riverfront. It links some of Baton Rouge's inner city neighborhoods to downtown parks, businesses and cultural attractions.
"It is high time this has happened," said Carolyn McKnight, superintendent of BREC. "We should have done it a long time ago, but we're here and we're going to make it happen and we're just excited to be a part of something big and great in Baton Rouge."
Some of the new amenities to the trail include bike racks, accessible ramps and connections to nearby parking lots.
