BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Red, Rock and Blue's huge slow-pitch softball/kickball tournament to benefit Louisiana military charities is quickly approaching.
The Doucet/Begnaud Invitational has drawn record numbers of teams each year with over 80 last summer. It is expected to set another landmark total this June 27-28 at BREC's Oak Villa Park.
The tournament has become a regional event, with four teams from Jacksonville, Florida already signed up, along with a long list of other local squads.
A special, early bird entry fee rate of $250 is running through June 1. The entry fee then raises to $300 through the final registration deadline of June 19.
Red, Rock and Blue just recently became its own, non-profit, tax exempt 501-c(3) public charity in April and has donated roughly $90,000 to Louisiana military charities, such as Blue Star Moms, Support Our War Heroes and Wounded War Heroes, during the last two years alone.
The Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball team, who were booked two years in advance because of their massive popularity, will also participate in the tournament and will also play in The Celebrity/Sorta Celebrity Softball Event Friday, June 26 at LSU Tiger Park.
