Woman allegedly stabs nephew, threatens witnesses and police

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A woman was arrested Sunday night after she was accused of stabbing her nephew during an argument.

Deputies with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office responded to a call on Sunday of an aggravated assault in the 7500 block of Pennhill Drive. When deputies arrived, the victim stated he had been stabbed in the hand by his aunt, 18-year-old Eliana Paul.

The victim claims that he told Paul to leave the house. When she refused and attempted to attack him again, witnesses at the scene allegedly grabbed Paul and forced her to drop the knife.

Deputies say they made several attempts to force Paul leave the home. When she refused, she was arrested.

While being taken to the deputy's cruiser, Paul then reportedly threatened the victim and witnesses by telling them she would tell her friends in New Orleans that she had been kidnapped by them if the victim did not drop the charges. She also threatened deputies, telling them they would not be alive by Friday.

Paul fought deputies and eventually had to be physically carried to the car.

While in the back of the car, she allegedly slipped her handcuffs from behind her back and made several attempts to open the door to escape.

Paul was taken to East Baton Rouge Parish Prison and booked with aggravated battery, resisting an officer, public intimidation, attempted simple escape, simple assault and intimidating a witness.
