BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Nearly a year later, a woman is crying out for help to find the person responsible for her son's murder.
Robin Smith is the mother of Nicholas Brumfield. Police say Brumfield was shot and killed at his car shop, Next Level Custom, on Greenwell Springs Rd.
Smith said she doesn't know why someone wanted to kill her son.
"I think he was a victim of circumstances of jealously," said Smith. "That is the only word that I could come up with. I think he was just easy."
What is troubling for Smith is that her son was murdered nearly a year ago. Sunday, May 31 marks the anniversary of his death.
She said detectives don't say much. She doesn't want this case to go cold. Smith is asking, if people know something they need to say something, and she also has a message for the person who took her son's life.
"I can't get my son back," said Smith "I will never hug him or kiss him. I will never get to hear him laugh. You're doing something to your mother. I want the violence to stop."
