Sporting News released its poll Thursday and the Tigers debut at No. 14. Why the No. 14 ranking for the Tigers? Players leaving the program early for the NFL, the loss of defensive coordinator John Chavis and the questions that still exist at the quarterback position. But with that said, Sporting News believes with the talent LSU will field this year, the Tigers just might surprise people and end up fighting for an SEC Championship. The SEC has nine teams in the poll led by Auburn's No. 3 ranking, followed by Alabama (5), LSU (14), Arkansas (15), Ole Miss (16), Georgia (18), Tennessee (22), Missouri (23) and Miss. State (25). Ohio State is the overwhelming favorite to repeat as National Champions.
