BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Police said a four-vehicle crash involving an 18-wheeler serves as an example of the importance of wearing seatbelts.
The Baton Rouge Police Department reported it happened on I-110 South at Capitol Access Road around 6:45 a.m.
Cpl. L'Jean Mckneely with BRPD said the tractor trailer rear-ended a car and pushed it into two other vehicles.
He said the driver of the first car that was hit was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.
Mckneely added a child in the car was properly secured in a safety seat and had "very minor injuries."
"Wearing your seatbelt is so very important," Mckneely stressed.
The crash caused I-110 South to be closed at Chippewa Street for a few hours. It reopened around 10:45 a.m.
Investigators have not said whether any charges will be filed in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
