Baton Rouge Police arrested a man for attempted murder after he was accused of firing eight gunshots into a vehicle, shooting a man four times.

The shooting happened March 28, 2015 just before 2 a.m.

The victim told police he arrived to a home in the 2700 block of Ozark to visit family members when he saw 34-year-old Cedric James Clay walk up to his vehicle and open fire.

The victim was taken to the hospital for his injuries. He told police he and Clay got into a fist fight about four months prior to the shooting.

Clay has been charged with attempted second degree murder, illegal use of a weapon, and aggravated criminal damage to property.

Cedric Clay was arrested on second degree murder charges after the victim was able to identify Clay from a lineup.

Police investigators say that Clay allegedly fired a handgun about eight times into the victim's car in the 2800 block of Oasis Street.

The victim noted that he was familiar with Clay, because he was dating the mother of his child, and that they had a fist fight just four months earlier.

Cedric Clay was arrested on May 6, 2015 and booked on charges of attempted second degree murder, illegal use of a weapon, and aggravated criminal damage to property. Police say Clay has a lengthy criminal history of approximately 31 arrests.

He is being held in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a $65,000 bond.
