PRAIRIEVILLE, LA (WAFB) -

Louisiana State Police said a 5-month-old died in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday evening.

Troopers reported it happened at the intersection of US 61 (Airline Highway) and LA 73 (Old Jefferson Highway) in Prairieville around 6 p.m.

They said although Emanuel Lange, Jr. was properly restrained in a child safety seat, he suffered serious injuries in the wreck. He was taken to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center where he later died.

The driver of the car he was in and a 13-year-old girl were taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle, Adria Brignac, 31, of St. Amant, was charged with turning left at intersection.

Sgt. Jared Sandifer with LSP said the initial investigation showed Tennille Willis, 35, of Baton Rouge, was headed north on Airline in a 2006 Mercedes CLS500. He added as she passed through the intersection at Old Jefferson on a green light, Brignac, who was headed in the opposite direction on Airline in a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder, tried to make a left turn onto Old Jefferson.

According to Sandifer, Brignac ended up hitting Willis' car on the driver's side. The impact pushed the Mercedes off the road and into a light pole. Lange and the unidentified teen girl were in the car with Willis.

Investigators said they do not believe the drivers were impaired.

Authorities said the crash is still under investigation and further charges may be pending.
