Detectives arrest second suspect in shooting that critically injured teen

NEW ROADS, LA (WAFB) -

A second suspect was taken into custody in the investigation of a shooting that sent a teen to the hospital with serious injuries.

The Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff's Office reported Richard McClain Jr. of New Roads is charged with principal to attempted second-degree murder.

Investigators said the shooting left a 16-year-old in critical condition. The shooting happened on St. Anthony Street in New Roads around 4 p.m. Friday. Detectives said the victim was shot twice and was taken to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge.

Terrance Rayford, also of New Roads, was arrested Monday. Investigators initially said they were searching for four suspects in a tan colored Chevrolet Tahoe. They have not identified any other suspects.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 344-7867.
