Detectives arrest 1 suspect in shooting that left 16-year-old in critical condition

NEW ROADS, LA (WAFB) -

Authorities said an arrest has been made in a shooting that left a teen hospitalized in critical condition.

The Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff's Office reported Terrance Rayford of New Roads was taken into custody Monday morning.

He is charged with attempted second-degree murder in connection with the shooting that injured a 16-year-old. According to the arrest warrant, Rayford fired shots into the vehicle the victim was sitting in.

Deputies are also looking for Richard McClain Jr. of New Roads.

The shooting happened on St. Anthony Street in New Roads around 4 p.m. Friday. Detectives said the victim was shot twice and was taken to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge.

Investigators said they were searching for four suspects in a tan colored Chevrolet Tahoe.

Rayford is the only person arrested so far in the investigation.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 344-7867.
